When Kate Raynes-Goldie was 12 years old, she wrote a letter to Nintendo asking why there were no girls in their advertising.

Today, Kate runs her own games consultancy and advocates for women in games and technology.

It’s this passion that has seen Kate win the ICT Professional of the Year at the ACS Digital Disruptors Awards 2016.

“I’m truly honoured,” she said.

“I like that this isn’t specifically a women’s award. We need to normalise women’s inclusion in this field. There are women doing really cool things in this space.”

At the awards ceremony held at The Star in Sydney last Thursday, accolades were handed out to winners in a variety of categories, including ICT Professional of the Year under 30, and Service Disruption for the Digital Consumer.

The awards night followed a successful day of panel sessions at the ACS Reimagination Thought Leaders’ Summit.
