• ACS Past President Anthony Wong delivered a keynote speech at the 37th National Information Technology Conference (NITC) in Sri Lanka. Wong spoke about the ethical and regulatory issues around machine learning and AI that have caused ethical debates around the world.

  • The German Infomatics Society has launched a ‘Charter on Digital Education’ to establish a shared understanding of the values and expectations of education in the digital age. Technical understanding, socio-cultural context, and application orientation are the three pillars of the charter. The charter will soon be available in English but can be translated in your browser.

  • A workshop at the 2019 International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Macao focused on the interplay between AI and the UN’s sustainable development goals such as gender equality. Holder of the Unesco Chair on Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality, Bhavani Rao, was the keynote speaker at the workshop. A write-up of the workshop can be found on the Knowledge for All website.

  • In September this year the 14th Human Choice and Computers Conference is taking place in Tokyo, Japan.
