• Former Australian Computer Society (ACS) President Anthony Wong formally became President of IFIP at its General Assembly in September. Wong said IFIP’s mission was “about worldwide professionalism and being socially responsible in how we create and apply technology”. Wong was elected as president last year and will serve a three-year term as IFIP President.
  • IFIP is now a partner with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) 'AI for Good' program. AI for Good aims to use practical applications of AI to help advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. IFIP will host a series of AI for Good webinars, beginning in April 2023 with a panel discussing the topic “Responsible AI for a Smart Country”.
  • Frits Bussemaker, chair and founder of the Institute for Accountability for the Digital Age, has won the David O’Leary Award for 2022. “It is a great honour for me to receive the David O’Leary Award in recognition of my contribution to the development of professionalism in ICT, which for me is focused on community building,” Bussemaker said. “It is a motivation to keep on sharing knowledge and supporting organisations to seek what they have in common.”
