On Thursday 5 March, ACS Victoria in collaboration with Vic ICT for Women hosted its annual International Women's Day (IWD) Breakfast held at Zinc, Federation Square.
All around the world, International Women’s Day celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women, while focussing world attention on areas still requiring action to ensure that women’s equality is gained and maintained in all aspects of life. ‘Make It Happen’ was the 2015 theme, encouraging effective action for advancing and recognising women. Building on this theme, ACS Victoria and Vic ICT for Women titled the 2015 event ‘Leading Ahead - Connect, Disrupt and Make It Happen!’
The sold out event was attended by over 170 guests, and featured keynote speaker Jane Martino, an inspirational expert in media and communications, a serial entrepreneur and the co-founder of two very successful online start-ups, ‘Smiling Mind’, a free online Mindfulness Meditation program for young adults, and ‘Shout for Good’, a fundraising platform that is changing the way the world gives. ACS President Brenda Aynsley OAM was also in attendance to celebrate the Make It Happen theme.
Jane took us through a journey of her career, highlights and lowlights, and the ways in which she has inspired, led and ‘made it happen’. At the conclusion of her presentation Jane took the time to answer audience questions, share her knowledge and give advice on how others can do the same.
ACS Victoria and Vic ICT for Women would like to thank the women and men who joined us for this momentous event and would like to make special mention to our sponsors;
