On Friday 22 January, ACS Victoria showed their support for Robogals, a student run organisation aiming to increase female participation in engineering, science and technology. Robogals primarily targets girls in grades 5-7 with fun, educational robotics workshops that aim to introduce 'engineering' into the girls' vocabulary, and show that it can be fun and exciting.
The day consisted of 20 children, of current Telstra employees, learning about the principles of engineering, hearing from a female engineer and participating in practical activities. Volunteers from Melbourne and Monash University facilitated the workshop, and the children who participated demonstrated their natural abilities and bright personalities, which we’re sure, will be put to future use.
ACS Victoria were proud to sponsor and attend the one-day robotics workshop and look forward to supporting Robogals to help them achieve their future goals.
