ACS President Yohan Ramasundara has been awarded the status of Fellow in recognition for his exhaustive contribution to the ICT industry.

For more than 15 years, Ramasundara has been committed to the IT industry through his significant and sustained leadership in the industry promoting professionalism, innovation and the successful integration of ICT with business and government operations.

An ACS Fellow award recognises distinguished contribution to the field of ICT.

Ramasundara said it was exciting to be honoured in such an important way.

“It is very humbling to receive this recognition,” Ramasundara said. “Fellowship is one of the highest honours you can achieve so this mean a lot – it means you are amongst the best of the best. It’s very humbling.”

Early in his career, Ramasundara engaged with the ICT profession directly through the ACS and the South East Asian Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC).

Ramasundara has been involved with SEARCC for 12 years, and currently holds the position of Secretary General.

He has been involved with ACS since 2005 when he was the founder of the ACS National Young ICT Conference, and over the following 14 years held various positions including Canberra Branch Treasurer, Canberra Branch Vice Chairman, National Board Member, National Treasurer, Vice President, and now President.

Through these leading professional societies, he developed and led several substantial initiatives to engage with the young professionals in IT to enhance their involvement in and engagement with the profession, and to increase and refine their professional development.

He has also held the position of Member of General Assembly at the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) as a representative of the Asia Pacific since 2012.
