Welcome to Part 7 of our RoboCup Highlights Reel series bringing you all the best bits from RoboCup 2019 in Sydney.

Teams from all over the world gathered to compete at RoboCup 2019 in Sydney.

The Red Knight Robotics Squad is a team of students from Benilde-St Margaret’s high school in Minnesota, USA.

Amelia Backes was one of the lead engineers on the Red Knight team this year.

“I like the challenge of it,” she said.

“I like the process of engineering where you try something, it probably doesn’t work, and you try again, and it doesn’t work, but you just have to keep going.

“When it finally works it’s just the best feeling ever.”

Soon Amelia is heading to college where she plans to put her RoboCup skills to the test.

“I love doing this. I love doing engineering and coding,” Amelia said.

“Next year I’m going to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and I don’t know what I’m going to do there but I’m thinking about physics, I’m thinking about engineering, and I’m thinking about computer science.”

ACS was the STEM Champion sponsor of RoboCup 2019.
