The Member Organisations of the Australian Council of Professions has launched an initiative assisting professional organisations across Australia and New Zealand find ways to help address climate change and secure a sustainable future.
ACoP's Forum for Climate Action comes after last Thursday's global launch of the Professional Bodies Climate Action Charter at the COP26 summit in Glasgow.
Representing more than 930,000 Australian professionals including computer professionals, engineers, veterinarians and accountants, ACoP is the alliance of Australian Professional Associations.
The Climate Action Forum will provide information, up-to-date technical and ethical guidance, and advocacy with the purposes of the initiative including assisting organisations looking to become a Supporter or Signatory to the Charter, and in sharing ideas, information and knowledge between the initiative's participants.
Leading the Forum will be Simon Hann, Group Executive, Education and Learning at Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, supported by Karen McWilliams FCA of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand; Mark Bonner MEc GDipResEc BEc – Climate Change Program Leader, Engineers Australia; Dr Hanna Jaireth – President, National Environmental Law Association; and Andrew Petersen LLB BA – CEO, Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia.
